Meet The Team

Paul Head

PhD Candidate BSc (Hons) MSc MCSP HCPC

Paul is currently undertaking a PhD into the use of blood flow restriction and neuromuscular electrical stimulation to optimise muscular strength and size improvements both pre and post surgical operations and after injury. Paul has a special interest in post-operative cases (such as ACL reconstructions, total hip and knee replacements) as well as injuries of the knee, spine and shoulder.

​He now works exclusively in private practice and professional sport but has experience in the NHS. 

​

Paul has worked with international athletes from professional sports including rugby, football, cricket and athletics. 

​

He rehabilitated a Judo athlete from a broken leg in February 2021 to be able to compete in the Tokyo 2020 Olympics Games. Additionally, during 2021 he has provided educational services to Crystal palace Football Club and Leeds United Football Club to their respective medical teams. 

​

He is a member of the chartered society of physiotherapists and registered with the health and care professionals council in the UK. He is also a member of the association of chartered physiotherapists in sport and the UK strength and conditioning association.

​

He is one of the physiotherapists at Surrey County Cricket Club and prior to this appointment was with London Wasps Rugby club. He has also worked with athletes from Preston North End FC, Team GB, UK athletics, England Rugby, Essex CCC and iron man triathletes to name a few.

​

Having first studied a Bachelors degree in Sports Therapy at the University of Central Lancashire between 2008-2011. He went on to complete a Masters in Physiotherapy at Kings College London in 2014. He then went on to start a PhD at St Marys University in 2016 and is projected to complete his doctorate in 2022. Paul has been published in multiple international journals. He has also lectured and provided training for optimising muscle strength and size throughout the rehabilitation period both nationally and internationally.

Paul is a specialist physiotherapist and an expert in his field. His approach is collaborative, working with the client to find the solution to their problem, whether that is an acute or long standing issue.

Ben Austen

Ben proudly supported the Kinetic Foundation’s full time football Academy as well as its Community falls prevention program in partnership with Surrey Physiotherapy Clinic previously.

​

Having first studied a Bachelors degree in Sport and exercise science at the University of Birmingham, he went on to work as an Exercise physiologist and Health Advisor for Bupa Health and Wellbeing UK in Central London. Following this with a two year Masters degree in Physiotherapy at Kings College, London.

​

Ben is a qualified sports massage therapist and Advanced Trauma practitioner (Lubas Medical). He is currently in the process of completing his FIFA medical diploma.

​

His approach is collaborative, working with the client to find the solution to their problem, whether that is an acute or long standing issue.
